Domestic two wheeler manufacture has now more reason to worry. Uk’s Triumph Motorcycles is developing a 125cc motorcycle which will be launched in emerging markets by the end of next year as reported by Hindu Business Line. This motorcycle will directly compete with other 125cc motorcycle available in the market.
According to sources close to development, “the company had component suppliers meeting in the year 2011 where it was decided that Triumph will built a cheaper 125cc motorcycle which should be built in India and will be out by end of next year.” However, the news is not confirmed by Triumph Motorcycle. The company has decided last year that it will soon launch motorcycles in India and showcased its range in Delhi Auto Expo 2012. The company’s range starts from 675cc Daytona to 2,300cc Rocket III in India. The Company is also in process of setting up its assembly plant in Karnataka which will assemble its upcoming motorcycles in India.
Triumph Motorcycle also has plant in UK and Thailand. It seems that the European motorcycle manufacture’s are now moving to Asia to expand their market and sales since the sales in Europe and North America is stagnating or shirking for high displacement motorcycle. Asia is a region where 75cc-250cc motorcycle and scooters rule the market. The move to develop 125cc motorcycle is in line with the market demand. Further, Asia has world’s first, second and third largest two wheeler market China, India and Indonesia respectively, the biggest reason, why European manufacturer are now heading to Asia.
